Mama loves to drive. Oh yes, I do! I am always up for a road trip. Especially when it offers fun to drive and lots of stunning view points along the way. Taking our little Mazda convertible out to tackle the mountains on a great day ranks pretty high on my weekend favorites. Luckily, I live in Switzerland where breathtaking mountain passes are just around the corner.
This weekend we went up Klausenpass. It connects the village Altdorf (Kanton Uri – near Lake Lucerne) with Linthal (Kanton Glarus). It takes about one hour to get from one side to the other non-stop. But you clearly want to stop here and there to enjoy the stunning views. The mountains in that area are particulary impressive.
The peak of the pass is at 1’948 meters. Yesterday, there was still a fair amount of snow up there, although the road is clear and safe to drive. Near the very top, you will find a restaurant to take a coffee break: http://www.klausenpasshoehe.ch/us/home
