Let’s get started

Hello and pleased to meet you!

This is my very first blog post. It is a project that I wanted to take on for a long time. With this year’s New Year resolutions, I finally got started. The purpose of this blog is to capture all the nice places and to share my experiences in Switzerland. I hope you will find some interesting tips and intriguing stories beyond your usual travel guide.

I am now in my 13th year in Switzerland. I am still amazed by the beauty of the country and all the surprising stories and traditions that I regularly come across. I have already many blog topics on my list to cover, ranging from skiing resorts, hiking trips, city strolls, restaurant guides, road trips and so on and so forth.

It is January and the Swiss skiing season is in full swing. The sun is out and I planned to start this blog with reports from all the great ski days and weekends ahead. Totally excited and fully motivated we departed to our one-week skiing holidays in Klosters right after Christmas. I was determined to photograph the nicest mountain panoramas, prepared to describe winter wonderland snowshoe hikes and the treasures of the local cuisine.

However, plans had to change. My very first day on the slopes ended in the emergency room of the Davos hospital. Diagnosed with a knee injury, equipped with two crutches and a kind of Terminator-style knee support, I was sent home. For the next six weeks or so I will be more or less grounded and the skiing season is finished before it really started. Well, let’s keep the skiing stories for next year. But there are so many other stories to find out and to talk about, even with my limited walking abilities.

So my first topic will be “Finding Heidi”. Stay tuned, I will limp along and find out all the details about one of the most popular Swiss girls ever.
